Placement

You should already have your placement into English and math.  If you placed below college level it is highly recommended that you start and complete these classes first as they are often the prerequisites for other courses or programs and are the foundation skills you will need in order to be successful.

If you no longer know what your placement is you can check the test scores tab in the Degree Audit tool, which will be introduced to you in a subsequent page of this online NSAR.

If you placed into Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes you have options:
  • Attend a test preparation workshop and/or study your basic skills in order to re-take the placement test at the Assessment Center, the ideal result of re-taking the placement would be to test higher, into at least MATH 090/ENGL 090 or above.
          OR
  • Submit an eligible high school or college transcript that will place you in English or math 90+
          OR
  • Take the CASAS test and then sign up for an ABE Information Session to sign up for ABE classes

If you don't have any placement on file with SPSCC, this will seriously limit your class options.
We strongly advise you consider taking the college placement test or submitting transcripts.
